A Badger On The Hunt, Osprey In the Nest and Some Pronghorns On A Hill

Hello Folks, I will be offline for some time as I have quit my job in Yellowstone and will be heading back to California for the summer to pursue other avenues.
This will be my last blog for this area for a few weeks and then the post will come once again.
Thanks for all of you that have been monitoring my blogs, I have throughly enjoyed doing the work as a photojournalist. I shall return later this late summer, with hopefully a colorful collection of images of California and the Western USA.

This past week, was the same as the week before... I was very lucky to be in the right place at the right time and was rewarded with some special pictures of wildlife.

The first up will be the large badger I spotted working his way up parallel with the road going through Lama Valley in Yellowstone National Park. He goes along this path to 'flush out' his favorite meal of ground squirrels which nest in colonies along the road.

The badger shots were not the greatest as he never stops moving... but this was my first badger and I am stoked for it.

Also in the Lama Valley lives herds of Pronghorn antelope. They are very fast and colorful to photography. I was lucky as the grasses were perfect for them to graze with along the road.

In my travels, I also came across two families of Sand Hill Cranes one family had a baby which is
called a calf.

Also, spotted early in the morning was a large moth that was using the sun to dry it's wings.

Other flying creatures photographed this week was an Osprey on the nest.
It was almost 100 degrees and the direct sunlight in Paradise Valley where the elavation
is about 5300 feet is scorching and so the parent shields the hard to see baby in the next with it's body.

These photos are of people taking a ride old style inside Yellowstone NP

A beautiful morning in the Yellowstone NP

And last but not least is the Hawk which is nesting on a limestone cliff right outside of Livingston, Montana. I have been waiting two years to see something near this nest.

Baby Bear Cubs, Baby Elk, An Elusive Bull Snake And Other Images From Montana and Yellowstone NP

Hello again Folks. It is still summer so far in Montana and the Yellowstone area and the
animals are out in full. Baby bears, elk, snake, geese and a mountain blue bird make up this weeks posting along with a few landscape shots of the natural beauty of this area.
 Enjoy!

A large family of geese head down the Yellowstone River on their way to better shores.

The view from one of my favorite fishing spot along the Yellowstone River with the Absaroka Mountains butting up
in the backdrop.

This is my shortcut crossing for my bicycle going from Downtown Livingston to the hill I live on in North Livingston.

Every house seems to have a rabbit hanging out eating the flowers like this hare up in Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone NP.

This elk calf came over to eat some sweet grass and hang out in the shade of the large building in Mammoth Hot Springs.

It sniffed around

Looked around

Did some more sniffing

Looked around again

and then took off back to momma!

This is a Mountain blue bird that hangs out often where I am working.

Here is that bull snake I was trying to photograph since the summer of 2010. It is about five feet long and dines
at the colony of ground squirrels nearby it's hide out in a drainage pipe along the road.

Bull snake on the prowl for unsuspecting ground squirrel prey.
These family of black bears was spotted in the Lower Mammoth residential area. While the mother slept in the shade of a big tree the two cubs literally hung out in another large tree.

Notice the two cubs making their way up the tree?

This little fella seemed to be checking me out down below and just sort of hanging there.

The two were having a great time while their momma slept

Finally Summer in the Park.

Hi Folks, summer has finally come to the Yellowstone National Park and all the animals are out some with their new babies. I hope you like my one hundredth post.

The Tourist are back in Yellowstone now that the weather is warm.

Things are bubbling to the surface with the runoff as you can see with this spring
coming out of Mammoth Hot Springs.

This Coyote is shedding his winter coat.

This great horned owl sits in a tree near it's nest and occasionally swoops down to kill things like ground squirrels and
robins.

The baby elks are back around the compound. The cow elks use this area to calve as the predators do not like to
be around humans.

These swallows love to warm themselves up under the morning sun before beginning their day.

The Blacktail basin is shut down for the spring to let the bears have the right away and to avoid any unsuspecting
tourist pumping into the defense mothers with cups.

This cow and her baby were hiding amongst the large machinery in Mammoth.

There were two calves with this elk. Quite unusual.

Birds, Creeks And My Pet Buffalo; Buffi

Sorry that I have been missing in action folks but I have been traveling to California. Before I left town, I took a few picture inside the Yellowstone Park. I also included a couple of my wife and I fishing on the Big Timber Creek in the Crazy Mountains, and a couple images of my daughter Sasha Yvette Belcher who graduated from High School this past weekend.

Myself striking out on the same creek.

Very nice place to relax

Up in the Yellowstone the spring runoff has begun.

The Bedlam Rovers; Take One and Chile A Journey of Protest And Parade

Hi Folks, this week's post will be a couple of videos I made when I was an upcoming
film maker in the late 1980's. I was working my way through college and spent about four and half years as a on and off again bike messenger. I worked at Blue Print, Speedway, Special T, Kangaroo and Roadrunner where I finished my messenger days at. Messengering was great and also sucked... for instance,
I got doored and a dislocated shoulder while working at Special T, and the owner refused to let the dispatcher call an ambulance and left me on the street because their insurance rates might go up. Got maced by crazy taxi driver, ticketed by lousy cops and bounced a few times by stupid drivers. Needless to say it was a love hate job that had it's moments of greatness and freedoms... Jackson Street park for lunch, rendezvous with a girlfriend messenger in alleyways for smooching, racing down Montgomery Street with fellow messengers and making it to the top of Nob Hill without stopping were just a few of those special memories.

These first two films were made for and with the musical group The Bedlam Rovers. The singer Caroleen Betty and drum Andrew both worked for Quicksilver Messenger Service at the time. We shot in film at the defunct Marry the Dog Studios on Market with Second Street. Many different messengers appear in the videos, including my old bike racing buddy Joe 'Buff' McCarthy, Jean The Biking Machine who use to surf his bike through traffic and at the Farm during shows and of course Caroleen and Andrew hard at work. This should bring back some memories for those of you that new these good folks back in the glory days of the late 80's.

This video is a collage of images that I shot on my journeys to Chile. I have lived there on and off from 1999 to 2007 and have collected quite a few images that I think represent Chileans pretty good.
